Customs Entry Writer

Job Description:

Job Duties:

• Documentation & Data Entry: Prepare, review, and process customs entries (such as CBP Form 7501) for air and ocean shipments, including Importer Security Filings (ISF/10+2).
• Classification & Valuation: Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) to determine correct duty rates, taxes, and fees.
• Regulatory Compliance:
  Ensure all shipments comply with CBP regulations and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) like the FDA, USDA, or EPA.
• Clearance Coordination: Monitor shipments to ensure timely release, resolving discrepancies, holds, or customs exams (CF28/CF29 requests).
• Communication:
  Act as a liaison between importers, carriers, freight forwarders, and customs officials.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, organized records of all customs entries and documentation.
• Other Customs Brokerage related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Experience:
  
  13 years of experience in customs brokerage, import/export, or logistics is preferred.
• Knowledge:
  Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and Incoterms.
• Software Proficiency:
  Familiarity with ABI/ACE systems and Cargowise Software. Proficiency in MS Excel and Word are essential.
• Attention to Detail:
  High accuracy in data entry is critical to avoid fines, penalties, and cargo delays.
