Office Assistant 1 - Center For Families

SALARY: $1,211.2 - $1,357.2/month ($17.40 - $19.50/hr) for a 16 hour per week schedule

LOCATION: Lynnwood, Washington

DESCRIPTION: The office assistant will support the Director and Assistant Director in the daily office and reception needs of the Center for Families and CFF childcare. Under general supervision, the assistant independently performs a variety of clerical projects and assignments. Responsibilities include greeting customers, assisting with accessing the secure area, monitoring entrance and exit doors, responding to inquiries and providing program information to students and the public via phone, in person and email;

scheduling students for observations and interviews; responding to inquiries requiring knowledge of office/departmental policies and procedures; computer word processing; using a multi-line phone system; filing/e-filing; retrieving and processing mail; duplicating; and other assigned clerical tasks. Within established guidelines, independently organizes, prioritizes, and initiates work activities. This position supports the college’s mission by providing on‑campus high‑quality childcare for student parents, family support services to strengthen students’ personal, educational, and career goals, and academic success.

It also provides educational opportunities for students seeking careers in early childhood education and/or family support, culinary and office administration. The position sets the foundation for lifelong learning for future Tritons within the early childhood education programming for students’ children. Employees within the Edmonds College Center for Families childcare embrace innovation by participating in state and national quality improvement models and assessments for accreditation.

This is a classified position reporting to the Director of the Center for Families.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
  • Serve as primary contact with the community for program information, scheduling tours and observations when assigned
  • Provide accurate and current information regarding enrollment for CFF programs
  • Provide college and community resource and referral information for clients and community members, as needed
  • Support childcare enrollment by collecting forms, updating child files, updating Procare and maintaining child files to meet licensing requirements
  • Maintain filing systems for records and forms
  • Prepare daily sheets for child attendance, weekly meal count forms, etc.
  • Communicate with families about enrollment and attendance via phone and email
  • Assist with collecting data for grants
