Overview of the role and expectations within a collaborative architectural practice.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assists in architectural projects by performing the following duties: applies standard practices, procedures, and criteria of related architectural tasks; assignments may require independent and informed judgement under the supervision of a professional Architect.
  • Performs design and calculation tasks based on standard architectural techniques and procedures; applies architectural fundamentals, adjusts data, and follows design through a series of related detailed steps.
  • Designs more complex projects and portions of designs of non-routine projects under the direction of a Project Architect or other responsible staff member.
  • May assist in preparing reports, specifications, plans, schedules, cost estimates, and permits for projects under the direction of a Project Architect or other responsible staff member.
  • Performs CAD drafting to produce designs into routine final drawings.
  • Researches discipline-related code issues and presents interpretation.
  • Visits construction sites to review, monitor, and report progress and perform other construction administration duties.
  • Has a general understanding and knowledge of construction techniques and constructability.
  • Instructs and mentors junior staff in the development of contract documents.
  • Performs checking of one s own work and work prepared by other team members.
  • Provides coordination of all applicable project discipline drawings and specifications.
  • Assists in preparing design budgets, marketing proposals, and cost estimates.
  • Assists in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
  • Promotes communications, cooperation, and quality among staff.
  • Must be skilled in the use of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Bluebeam, Word, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Knowledge of the latest computer software for architectural renderings and building energy analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of sustainable/green strategies.
  • P romotes and represents the firm in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for job-specific standards, practices, and quality as defined in BRPH Quality standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in architecture from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Three years of experience in architecture.
  • Must be prepared to take licensing.
