This is a senior-level instructional support position responsible for coordinating and delivering instructional, technical, and operational support for greenhouse, laboratory, and field-based horticulture courses. Under general direction, the position designs, develops, and implements instructional support programs and facilities that emphasize complex design, applied learning, and experiential education. The role supports courses that provide only general theoretical concepts and translate them into practical experiments, demonstrations, and real-world growing systems.
The greenhouse is a functional production and learning space, and this position plays a central role in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and educationally rich environment that supports student success, workforce preparation, and applied horticultural training.
This is a classified position reporting to the Dean for the School of Business, Entrepreneurship, & Professional Education.

Responsibilities- Instructional & Educational Support
- Ensuring documentation of all plants grown in the greenhouse.
- Communicating with instructors when processes are not being followed or when tasks are needed for successful plant production.
- Develops and coordinates scientific and horticultural instructional programs, laboratory procedures, and hands-on demonstrations in collaboration with faculty.
- Designs and constructs equipment, growing systems, and demonstration models for lecture, laboratory, and field-oriented courses.
- Supports courses requiring complex design and development, including experiments and demonstrations grounded in current research and applied best practices.
- Provides follow-up instruction and individualized support to students to reinforce learning outcomes.
- May teach or assist with the laboratory portion of selected courses.
- Maintains greenhouse and laboratory facilities as safe, clean, and operational instructional spaces.
- Grows and maintains plant collections for instructional use, identification collections, and plant sales.
- Keeps essential supplies stocked and manages tools, equipment, and workspace necessary for student learning.
