Position Overview
Associate Faculty Pool, Physical Education and Health Departments (PT Faculty)
SALARY: A five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94
LOCATION:
Lynnwood Washington

The Health and Physical Education faculty must maintain current instructional certifications appropriate to field or discipline; current CPR/First Aid certification required. This is a part-time position that reports to the Dean of the Health and Human Services division.

DESCRIPTION:
Part-time instructors are needed to teach classes in the Physical Education and Health Departments. Current openings may includes instruction in health and emergency response courses, men and women's body building, basketball, volleyball and other sports-based courses. Most quarters are eleven weeks in length.
Duties include:
Provide effective individual, small group or whole class instruction, using a variety of techniques, as appropriate for assignment and instructional mode;
Develop appropriate course materials, such as assignments, activities, and assessments to meet course objectives;
Prepare syllabus and paperwork in accordance with department standards and campus requirements;
Evaluate student work, assigning grades, and maintaining grading records
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in physical education, health or recreation, or similar field; OR Bachelor's Degree paired with specific equivalent certifications, training and experiences.
Basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball or baseball instruction and coaching experience.
Demonstrated successful teaching experience in physical education and health programs.
Experience in weight room settings, fitness training, personal training and/or coaching adults around topics such as body conditioning, weight lifting, body building, wellness and nutrition.
Current in appropriate certifications NSAM, ACSM, ACE, IDEA, ISSA, NSCA (cscs), BLS or Healthcare CPR certification, CPR/AED certification, and/or equivalent in field of instruction.
Emergency Response courses required certification as instructor to teach CPR;
American Heart Association BLS certification preferred.
Excellent verbal, listening, problem-solving, critical thinking and writing skills.
DESIRED
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience teaching adult learners in a college or university setting
Excellent computer skills, including experience teaching online.
Ability to work effectively with students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Experience with multiple approaches to teaching and learning, such as incorporating a variety of technologies into the classroom, teaching online or hybrid classes, or using other innovative techniques.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to a variety of teaching situations, including a wide range of student preparedness, backgrounds, and life experiences.
Ability to work effectively with supervisors, colleagues, staff and students as part of an educational team.
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in a classroom and requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. The ability to speak clearly and fully comprehend written and spoken English is essential.
COMPENSATION:
The work schedule is based on an eleven-week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 at Step
A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour, and meeting stipends are compensated per the CBA rate, starting at $55 for meetings lasting from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.

* For education and degrees completed outside of the United States, an independent evaluation approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) is needed before the hiring process will be completed.
