DESCRIPTION:

The Political Science Department at Edmonds College accepts applications for part-time faculty positions on an ongoing basis. Typical requirements for part-time faculty in the Political Science Department are listed below. To be included in the part-time pool, please follow the application procedure below.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Master's degree in Political Science or related cross-disciplinary field with significant Political Science course-work

* Background in at least two of the following subfields:
American Government and Politics, International Relations and Security, Political Theory, Comparative Politics, Methods (Quantitative and Qualitative)

* Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English

* Ability to work with populations representing diverse backgrounds

DESIRED

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Some teaching experience, preferably at a community college

* Demonstrated experience teaching online and hybridized classes

* Demonstrated use of active learning teaching methods in the classroom

* Demonstrated use of undergraduate research, service learning, or other high impact practices

* Familiarity with Canvas learning management or other similar Learning Management Systems

* Experience and expertise in designing and delivering culturally, linguistically, and socially equitable curriculum, pedagogy and assessment methods.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in a classroom and office and requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. The ability to communicate effectively is essential. Instructors are required to use a computer in the work environment.

COMPENSATION:

The work schedule is based on an eleven-week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 at Step

A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour, and meeting stipends are compensated per the CBA rate, starting at $55 for meetings lasting from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

* You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.

* Criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant
¿ s suitability and competence to perform in the position.

* For education and degrees completed outside of the United States, an independent evaluation approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) is needed before the hiring process will be completed.

* All new positions are contingent upon funding.

* At this time, Edmonds College does not sponsor H1-B Visas.
