DESCRIPTION:
Edmonds College and the Humanities Division invite applications for an associate faculty Ceramics instructor. We seek a dynamic educator who can inspire and engage students in a culturally diverse environment and adapt to a variety of teaching situations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate artistic accomplishment in ceramics and related studio art disciplines and will be committed to student success and innovative teaching practices.

We accept applications for part-time faculty positions on an ongoing basis. Typical requirements for part-time faculty are listed below. To be included in the part-time pool, please follow the application procedure below.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art, Master of Art Education, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional studio experience
* Demonstrated teaching experience in a ceramics studio
* Demonstrated experience with the technical and artistic aspects of ceramics, including:
* Proficiency with wheel-thrown pottery and hand building
* Loading, unloading, and firing electric and/or gas kilns
* Knowledge of kiln operation, including firing schedules and safety protocols
* Understanding of glaze chemistry and experience with glaze preparation and application
* Studio management experience
* Excellent verbal, listening, problem-solving, critical thinking, and writing skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Ability to impart excitement and enthusiasm into teaching
* 1 year of successful teaching of foundational ceramics courses
* Active creative practice through a record of exhibitions, presentations, or other professional activities
* Ability to work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
* Community college teaching experience
* Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to a variety of learning needs, including a wide range of student preparedness
* Use of innovative teaching methods that include new technologies in art instruction and project-based instruction
* Experience with the use of online course management systems, i.e. Canvas
* Ability to work collaboratively in program and college-wide projects.
COMPENSATION:
The work schedule is based on an eleven-week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 at Step
A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour, and meeting stipends are compensated per the CBA rate, starting at $55 for meetings lasting from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

* For education and degrees completed outside of the United States, an independent evaluation approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) is needed before the hiring process will be completed.
* All new positions are contingent upon funding.
