Special Services Teacher – Lake Stickney Elementary

Location: Lake Stickney Elementary, Lynnwood, Washington
Contract: 1.0 FTE continuing contract
Effective:  school year

Plan, prepare, and deliver a quality educational program based on state standards, district curriculum, IEP goals, and effective instruction to students with diverse needs.

• Plan and provide clear, intentional instruction based on individual student IEP goals.
• Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs.
• Implement effective teaching practices that facilitate achievement for each student.
• Use multiple student data elements to assess progress, modify instruction, and improve learning.
• Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community to foster student success.
• Manage a safe, positive learning environment that promotes effective behavior.
• Maintain and submit information and records, including student progress.
• Participate in meetings (e.g., school, department, manifestation determination, eligibility, evaluation, placement) to address student goals and meet laws and policies.
• Process accurate records/documents required by state and federal regulations.
• Direct the work of assigned classified staff.
• Implement and comply with district policies and the Code of Professional Conduct.
• Maintain attendance and adhere to regular work hours specified in the contract.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

• Valid Washington State teaching certificate with a special education endorsement.
• Knowledge of Washington state and federal rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of subject matter and course content relevant to the assignment.
• Skill in using effective instructional strategies and practices.
• Skill in using formative and summative assessments.
• Ability to address a wide range of academic and social needs, including at‑risk students, cultural diversity, English language learners, and special education students.
• Ability to design and conduct specialized instruction, remediation, and evaluation.
• Ability to promote positive student behavior.
• Ability to meet students’ developmental needs.
• Effective communication with parents, students, staff, and administrators.
• Organizational, time‑management, and record‑keeping skills.
• Technological proficiency with devices and specific software programs.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and strengthening job‑related competencies.

• Valid Washington State certification with appropriate endorsement(s).
• Highly qualified requirements relative to the assignment.

• Successful experience as a special education teacher.
• Second language or language acquisition background.
• Experience with student cultural and economic diversity.

Requires standing, walking, carrying, pushing/pulling, and other physical activities as described by district standards. The role may involve frequent standing, bending, and lifting to support classroom instruction and student needs.
