POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Modern Languages Department offers American Sign Language (ASL) courses at the beginning and intermediate levels. Courses offered in the American Sign Language program include ASL& 121, ASL& 122, and ASL& 123. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Master's degree in American Sign Language, ASL linguistics, deaf studies, deaf education, or sign language interpretation/translation.
- College or university teaching experience.
- Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language.
- College teaching experience.
- Ability to work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Work is typically performed in a classroom that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Instructors typically use a computer in the work environment.
COMPENSATIONThe work schedule is based on an eleven-week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 at Step
A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour, and meeting stipends are compensated per the CBA rate, starting at $55 for meetings lasting from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.
