DescriptionThe Culinary Arts Associate Faculty member will teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced kitchen labs, with future classroom teaching possibilities such as Principles of Cooking. The position supports a curriculum that reflects classical and contemporary cooking trends, meeting industry standards. Responsibilities include managing the College Café and overseeing student production in the To Go Program, using online teaching, lecture, and lab modalities, and participating in curriculum development and student interaction.
Daily hours in the lab will be approx. 8:30 am to 2:15 pm, Monday‑Thursday. Additional administrative work includes grading, record keeping, curriculum development, advising, recruitment, and office hours. Strong teamwork, collaborative decision‑making, and multitasking are required.
This associate faculty position reports to the Dean of the School of Business, Entrepreneurship, & Professional Education, with an anticipated start date of September 17 2025.
Required Qualifications- Associate's degree in Culinary Arts or a related field.
- Three years of recent industry experience.
- One year as an Executive Chef, or equivalent food service management experience.
- Desire to learn teaching principles at Edmonds College.
- Excellent verbal, writing, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Evidence of ability to use technologies such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, email, and learning management systems (Canvas).
Work is primarily in a professional kitchen, requiring standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lb. Other work may be in a classroom or office, requiring standing or sitting for extended periods. Faculty use computers and other technologies regularly.
CompensationThe schedule follows an eleven‑week quarterly cycle and varies each quarter. Salary depends on contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five‑credit "lecture mode" class is approximately $6,387.94 at Step
A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour; meeting stipends start at $55 per hour for 30‑minute to 2‑hour meetings.
