Associate Faculty Pool, Child, Youth, and Family Studies (PT Faculty)

A five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94.

DESCRIPTIONThe Child, Youth, and Family Studies (CYFS) Department accepts applications for part-time teaching on an ongoing basis. The department offers a bachelor of applied science (BAS) degree that is listed on the department website onds.edu/programs/bas/cyfs.
Candidates with an interest and/or experience in programs focusing on human services for children, youth and their families, advocacy and social justice, preventive interventions, and/or nonprofit programming and evaluation are especially encouraged to apply.
Most quarters are 11 weeks long; each week consists of approximately five hours of class time. CYFS courses are held in the evening and online. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Master's degree in early childhood education; social work; social justice; family studies; family and consumer science; human development; child, youth and family studies; or related fields, such as social services, social welfare, sociology, psychology, mental health or early learning.
- One year of direct service experience with children, youth, and families in appropriate fields, related to social work, human development, child/family support, early childhood education, counseling, mental health, or a closely related field.
- Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse ages, backgrounds, life experiences, and abilities, including adult learners.
- Excellent speaking, writing, listening, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
- Good technology skills and familiarity with the Internet and communicating online.
- Teaching experience at a community college or university.
- Experience working with Canvas or other online learning management systems.
Work is typically performed in a classroom which requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Instructors typically use a personal computer in the work environment.
COMPENSATIONThe work schedule is based on an eleven-week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 at Step
A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour, and meeting stipends are compensated per the CBA rate, starting at $55 for meetings lasting from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.

Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
