Overview
JOB OPPORTUNITY – Engineer or Project Engineer
Are you passionate about public infrastructure and utility engineering? Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD), the largest special purpose water and wastewater district in Washington State, is seeking skilled and motivated engineers to play a key role in managing the development, planning, design, and construction of critical infrastructure.
AWWD’s 45-square mile service area is a rapidly developing and diverse community that covers multiple land use jurisdictions. The District is a critical link between the county’s major water source (City of Everett), direct customers, and a group of retail water providers. The District also collects sewage from multiple jurisdictions for treatment at our wastewater treatment plant and for transfer to other regional treatment plants.
AWWD’s Engineering and Development Department includes four teams:
Planning, Development, Engineering, and Construction. This position would be part of both the Development and Engineering teams. Key focus areas include:
- Development Review
:
Work in tandem with development technicians to review privately managed extensions to our utility systems. - Inter-agency Planning
:
Coordinate with land-use agencies and neighboring service providers to plan and promote growth. - Inter-agency Project Management
:
Lead capital improvement projects to relocate infrastructure to accommodate partner agencies.

Qualifications- Three years of progressively responsible experience in engineering for the Engineer classification.
- Four years of progressively responsible experience as a Professional Engineer for the Project Engineer classification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington State.
- Strong communication skills to engage with diverse teams, stakeholders, and community members.
