Supplier Quality Engineer II​/III

Job Summary

Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an on‑site position located in Lynnwood, WA that requires travelling to visit suppliers. The Supplier Quality Engineer II/III works under supervision and uses established procedures to support the Crane Supplier Quality Management Strategy. The Supplier Quality Engineer II also implements a supplier quality improvement and monitoring process that optimizes the supplier performance, product quality, and business qualification with Crane.

• Partner with Supply Chain Director and other leadership team members to determine annual supplier quality objectives.
• Implement and maintain a Supplier Scorecard that monitors supplier quality, delivery and other metrics that track the general performance of the supplier.
• Support supplier Quarterly Business Reviews, assess supplier performance, monitor corrective action status, and drive supplier to continuous improvement.
• Liaise with site Quality teams and suppliers to assure that quality issues are addressed, and corrective actions are in place and being properly managed to assure root cause analysis and corrective action reporting.
• Conduct assessments of suppliers’ quality system and process control capability, and drive implementation of improvement plans.
• Partner with suppliers to develop quality control plans for assigned commodities and drive implementation.
• Conduct first article and first batch audit inspections.
• Any other task assigned by supervisor or management.
• Travel to suppliers (both local and not local) up to 40%.

• Prepare management reports and presentations regarding quality status and supplier performance.
• Support Material Review Board (MRB).
• Actively engage and understand trends in the industry’s approach to quality and new approaches that may provide benefit to BU.

Experience: 3+ years of related experience for level II and 5+ years of related experience for level III.

Knowledge:

• Working knowledge of the marketplace and manufacturing technologies.
• Familiarity with supplier qualification processes and supplier performance metrics.
• Knowledge of the latest quality science tools including FMEA, GR&R, Control plans, Capability study and reduction of variations.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Exposure to lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc).
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
• Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of assigned product or program.

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or other related Science/Engineering field. Advanced degree is a plus.

This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
