SALARY: A five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94

LOCATION: Lynnwood, Washington

We are currently accepting applications for a part-time curriculum developer for the Robotics/Electronics program within the Engineering Technology Department at Edmonds CC. The primary focus of this position will be reviewing existing curriculum and mapping outcomes to industry skills and standards associated with standard mechatronics and robotics programs. The mapping results will be used to update existing course curriculum and develop new curriculum for both lab and lecture.

We are offering between 50-100 hours of curriculum development per quarter depending on the applicant's availability and the results of the curriculum review.

ETEC DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Engineering Technology is the powerhouse department combining training in composites manufacturing and robotics. Classes introduce students to materials science, composite materials, engineering design, and robotics and electronics technology. Gain experience in hands‑on state of the art labs. There are 3D printers, 3D scanners, injection molders and a robotic arm. Therapy is also equipment to test, construct, design, and build items both large and small.

Composite projects have included windmills, a kayak, and a wind tunnel. Capstone projects include fan‑powered, radio‑controlled robotic cars with printed and composite parts. Industry certifications covered within these programs include:
Certified Quality Technician (ASQ), Soldering and Inspection (IPC) along with eligibility for three of Boeing's Apprenticeship Programs (upon satisfactory completion of the Composites Certificate).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Educational or professional experience in electronics and/or robotics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.
  • Awareness of current trends in the manufacturing industry specifically related to robotics and electronics.
  • Curriculum development experience at a post‑secondary institution or within industry.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in industry or graduate studies specializing in robotics and/or electronics.
  • Self‑directed with the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
  • Passion for robotics and/or electronics and awareness of the impact of this technology on the manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with populations representing diverse ages, backgrounds, life experiences and abilities.
  • Relevant industry certifications.
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT

Curriculum review and development can be done off site or in a shared PT faculty office, however the curriculum developer will be expected to provide timely responses to all email communications and attend regularly scheduled campus meetings (approximately 2-3 per month). If PT teaching is available, class instruction will be performed in a classroom and laboratory, which requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time.

Instructors typically use a personal computer in the work environment.

COMPENSATION

The work schedule is based on an eleven-week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 at Step

A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour, and meeting stipends are compensated per the CBA rate, starting at $55 for meetings lasting from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.
