Position: Custodian 1 - Part-Time (C)

Position Overview

Custodian 1 - Part‑Time (C) at Edmonds College, Lynnwood, Washington.

Salary: $1,457 per month for a 16‑hour per week schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms; clean surfaces (floors, baseboards, whiteboards, vents, walls, furniture, windows, etc.).
  • Remove trash and clean trash containers up to 55 gallons.
  • Sweep outside entrances and sidewalks.
  • Set up, take down, and move furniture and equipment for meetings, classes, conferences, and events; move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, more than 50 pounds with assistance or dollies.
  • Perform minor repairs and refinish floors using appropriate methods.
  • Maintain a variety of spaces including classrooms, restrooms, offices, lounges, board rooms, kitchens, cafeterias, auditoriums, lecture halls, banquet rooms, outdoor entrances, hallways, foyers, gymnasiums, locker rooms, weight rooms, science labs, computer labs, libraries, reading rooms, work rooms, communication center, art galleries, staircases, child care areas, and other public areas.
Required Qualifications
  • Physical ability to perform custodial tasks.
  • Effective English reading and speaking skills.
  • Some experience using a computer.
  • Knowledge of cleaning agents and chemicals.
  • Ability to use a computer to submit timesheets.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of carpet and floor care procedures.
  • Experience cleaning large institutions.
  • Self‑discipline and self‑motivation.
  • Ability to work well with college staff, students, and diverse populations.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Physical Work Environment

Work generally alone after dark; may contact custodial staff, other college staff, students, and campus visitors. Duties require physical strength, agility, and endurance; frequently walk, stand, bend, reach, lift, pull, or push objects up to 50 pounds. Operate heavy custodial equipment as needed. Exposure to cleaning agents, chemicals, dust, and other environmental conditions is expected. Effective communication skills essential.

Work Schedule

Permanent classified position up to 16 hours per week. Monday‑Sunday, 6‑10 PM.

Compensation

Salary: $1,457/month for a 16‑hour per week schedule. Not eligible for benefits; paid PTO/Sick leave on an accrual basis.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must document citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.
  • Criminal background check will be conducted; information will be considered in employment suitability.
  • All new positions are contingent upon funding.
  • Edmonds College does not sponsor H1‑B visas.
