Cleanroom Micro-Soldering Specialist

Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Cleanroom Micro-Soldering Specialist at our Lynnwood, WA location. Hours are Monday - Friday 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM or 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM.

The Cleanroom Micro-Soldering Specialist works under limited supervision performing advanced assembly processes to manufacture Crane Aerospace & Electronics products in accordance with military standards, Food and Drug Administration standards, and other assembly standards using visual aids, verbal and/or written instructions. This role emphasizes expertise in soldering, particularly micro soldering. The Cleanroom Micro-Soldering Specialist communicates with all levels of the Value Stream and performs visual inspections.

• Perform advanced soldering tasks, including micro-soldering, to assemble components and subassemblies.
• Prepare components prior to assembly, clean components, mark, and inspect components, subassemblies, or completed assemblies.
• Test finished assemblies for quality and functionality.
• Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy; proactively identify safety concerns or issues.
• Train and mentor new employees and other team members in soldering techniques, processes, and Crane tools.
• Prioritize daily demand per Master Schedule Report for the cell(s) they are working in.
• Discuss and problem-solve quality issues with Manufacturing Engineers, the Quality group, and leadership.
• Create work orders, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for quality and material issues, and First Article Inspections (FAIs) at "In process/End Item" as well as other assorted assembly functions.
• Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings for improvement.
• Cross-train to work on all processes within the value stream.
• Identify and report issues to leadership.
• Complete job-related company training courses.
• Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI's, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they arise.
• Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary.
• Any other task assigned by supervisor or management.

• Understand and/or participate with internal/external audits
• Review work instructions for errors and/or clarification improvements
• May be required to repair/rework defective or returned assemblies

• Experience:
  
  5+ years of Small Component Assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
• Minimum 1 year of specific micro-soldering experience
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
• Skills:
  
  Strong verbal and written communication; proficiency in reading comprehension (understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents) of the English language; basic computer skills (understanding of basic software)
• Abilities:
  Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception and other vision capabilities required; manipulative skills, including finger and manual dexterity; adept hand-eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness; ability to thoroughly interpret production or engineering prints, production planning information and assembly aids such as illustrations and wiring diagrams; ability to work well in high paced work environment in a high volume setting
• Education/Certification:
  
  High School diploma or equivalent; fine soldering certificate or equivalent experience
• Eligibility Requirement:
  This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

• Ability to coach and mentor as well as have input into employment process
• Ability to do part marking, wrapping and packaging finished goods and transport to other work areas
• Ability to ensure all paperwork and work order transactions are completed appropriately and close work orders
• Ability to perceive and pre-determine sequence of operations and installation requirements from sketches and oral instructions
• Experience maintaining equipment on a stringent calibration schedule
• IPC solder certification
• Designated Inspection certification

• Working conditions could include a Class 7 or 8 Cleanroom, or general manufacturing environment
• Up to 7 hours of microscope work daily
• Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
