Lynnwood, WA (on‑site, requiring travel to suppliers).
Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets. This role is based in our Lynnwood facility located in the epicenter of United States aviation manufacturing.
Job SummaryThe Supplier Quality Engineer III operates with minimal supervision and supports Crane’s Supplier Quality Management Strategy. The role focuses on developing and implementing supplier quality improvement and monitoring processes to enhance supplier performance, product quality, and business qualifications.
Essential Functions- Collaborate with the Supply Chain leader and leadership team to establish annual supplier quality objectives.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a Supplier Scorecard to monitor supplier quality, delivery, and other performance metrics.
- Lead supplier Quarterly Business Reviews, evaluate supplier performance, monitor corrective action status, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with site Quality teams and suppliers to address quality issues, ensuring corrective actions are effectively managed and root‑cause analyses are conducted.
- Assess supplier quality systems and process control capabilities, driving implementation of improvement plans.
- Train and collaborate with suppliers to develop and implement quality control plans for assigned commodities.
- Perform first‑article and first‑batch audit inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or management.
- Prepare management reports and presentations regarding quality status and supplier performance.
- Support Material Review Board (MRB).
- Actively engage and understand trends in the industry’s approach to quality and new approaches that may benefit the business unit.
- Experience: 7 years of related experience; prior experience in a regulated environment with a preference for FAA CFR 14 part 21 and part 145.
- Knowledge: Broad knowledge of marketplace and manufacturing technologies; in‑depth knowledge of supplier qualification processes and supplier performance metrics; knowledge of quality science tools (FMEA, GR&R, control plans, capability studies, variation reduction); knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for precision technical plans; exposure to lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, etc.).
- Skills & Abilities: Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills; ability to make timely, fact‑based decisions; proven ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams; demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence across organizational lines.
- Education & Certification: BA or BS degree in a technical discipline.
- ASQC certifications and knowledge of SPC / Lean / Six Sigma certification (black belt or green belt).
- Standard office environment with substantial visual concentration on detail.
- Manufacturing environment; may require PPE such as eye safety glasses, masks, hearing protectors, etc.
- May be exposed to loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes.
- Travel up to 40% required.
