Position Summary

First American Resources is seeking a Coatings Quality Technician to perform testing and inspection of coated products in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for evaluating paint and coating performance through laboratory and production testing, ensuring products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.

The successful candidate will perform coating thickness measurements, adhesion testing, gloss and color evaluations, cure verification, corrosion testing, and quality inspections while working closely with production, operations, and quality teams to support continuous improvement and product excellence.

  • Perform quality control testing on products coming off the coil coating and paint lines.
  • Conduct coating thickness measurements using approved testing equipment and methods.
  • Perform adhesion, gloss, color, cure, flexibility, and corrosion resistance testing.
  • Evaluate finished products against customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Document and maintain accurate testing records and inspection reports.
  • Identify non-conforming materials and communicate findings to production and management.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure consistent coating quality and performance.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and verify testing equipment and laboratory instruments.
  • Follow quality procedures, work instructions, safety guidelines, and testing protocols.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing quality and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory and work environment.
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in manufacturing, production, quality control, quality assurance, inspection, or industrial testing.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to accurately record and maintain testing and inspection data.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
  • Experience with paint, coatings, coil coating, powder coating, metal finishing, or industrial finishing operations.
  • Experience performing coating thickness, adhesion, gloss, color, cure, flexibility, or corrosion testing.
  • Knowledge of ASTM testing standards and quality control procedures.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.
  • Technical training or an Associate degree in Manufacturing, Quality, Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
