Senior Scientist (Purification)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Scientist (Purification) to join our Protein Sciences Team in Macclesfield (SK10 4TG
). This is a permanent position.

Responsible for establishing and executing work plans for the protein science area. Accountable for protein science project delivery from early drug discovery projects across modalities and therapeutic areas.

• Design and execution of agreed work plans for early drug discovery projects.
• Support more than one project and direct internal resources to achieve agreed goals.
• Provide oversight of results to ensure quality to project specifications.
• Accountable, together with project counterparts, for the design of experiments, review of documentation and client presentations.
• Conduct thorough data analysis ahead of product release to internal or external customers.
• Propose experimental designs and novel approaches to identify/advance best strategies in addition to planning/executing project deliverables.
• Implement standalone scientific services and deliverables to customers.
• Lead colleagues to co-develop plans for personal growth, aligned to business needs.
• Represent the company at scientific and/or business conferences.
• Present and publish peer‑reviewed science to increase own and Evotec's scientific reputation.

Adapt the above responsibilities to the specific protein science environment and meet the agreed timelines, budgets, and quality criteria.

• Strong technical knowledge of Protein Biochemistry, Structural Biology or Biophysics with proven ability to design and deliver results across target families.
• Design and optimise protein purification workflows using chromatographic techniques and analytical tools.
• Operate ÄKTA systems and collaborate with upstream teams.
• Troubleshoot expression and purification challenges using creative problem‑solving.
• Build and execute work plans with internal and external customers.
• Demonstrate a track record of leading scientists across specialist fields and facilitating employee growth through co‑development of PDP.
• Show successful problem‑solving, high‑quality science and influencing of stakeholders.
• Experience in scientific development and research with publications in a relevant field.

• Ph.D. degree or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific discipline; alternatively a first degree plus significant industry experience in drug discovery.

• Understand research context and recognise threats, trends and changing circumstances; articulate strategic assumptions.
• Take small risks with reassurance and support.
• Show emerging initiative and drive outcomes with guidance.
• Communicate actively, working on clarity and responsiveness.
• Seek and provide constructive feedback to improve processes and outcomes.

• Pension: 5% employee contribution plus 5% employer match during the first 3 months, increasing to a maximum of 7.5% if opted for.
