HGV Mechanic

£17-£21 per hour | Minimum 40 hours per week | Permanent Position

Join an established and growing business Cheshire Demolition & Excavation Contractors has been established since 1985 and has built a strong reputation within the industry. Over the years, we have continued to grow and diversify, developing our operations and expanding our fleet. In 2021, we invested in our own dedicated HGV garage , allowing us to maintain and service our growing fleet of tippers, skip wagons and LCVs in-house.

We are now looking for an experienced and capable HGV Mechanic to join our team and play an important role in keeping our fleet safely and reliably on the road.

The Role This is a varied and hands-on role, with no two days being the same. You will predominantly be responsible for maintaining and repairing our own fleet, although we also undertake work for external customers. Your day-to-day work will include everything from routine servicing and safety inspections through to fault diagnosis, repairs and attending vehicle breakdowns. Our fleet includes Volvo, Renault, MAN and DAF vehicles, providing plenty of variety and the opportunity to work across a range of heavy commercial vehicles.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a good eye for detail and is able to work independently as well as part of a busy team. About You Ideally, you will have: NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in HGV/Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Category C Licence (highly desirable, though not essential) Previous experience working on HGVs or heavy commercial vehicles Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills A strong understanding of vehicle safety and maintenance The ability to work independently and manage your workload A professional and reliable approach to your work We are open to speaking with experienced mechanics who may not meet every requirement but can demonstrate the right skills, attitude and experience.
