Job Description & How to Apply Below

Peak Nano is looking for an Application Engineer to drive adoption of our contract research services using our proprietary nanolayering technology to develop custom multilayer film solutions for the food and medical packaging markets. In this role, you'll work directly with prospective and existing customers to understand their packaging challenges (barrier performance, shelf life, sterility, regulatory compliance) and scope research engagements that apply nanolayer film architectures to solve them.

You'll serve as the technical face of these engagements, translating customer requirements into research plans, coordinating with Peak Nano's R&D team on trial design and execution, and presenting results in a way that builds the case for continued or expanded research partnerships. In addition, the Application Engineer will develop new customer use cases for Peak Nano’s existing nanolayer film compositions.

The ideal candidate has a background in materials science, polymer engineering, or packaging engineering, with familiarity with multilayer/barrier film technology and ideally some exposure to food or medical packaging requirements (FDA compliance, sterile barrier systems, shelf-life testing, etc.). This role blends technical depth with a sales and business development mindset, so strong communication skills and comfort working directly with customers to identify opportunities and support execution are essential.

This is a high-visibility, revenue-generating position on a growing team, offering the chance to help establish Peak Nano's nanolayering platform as a go-to resource for packaging innovation.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in materials science, polymer engineering, chemical engineering, packaging engineering, or a related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience in packaging, films, or polymer materials, ideally with exposure to extrusion, multilayer, or barrier film technology
  • Demonstrated ability to manage customer-facing technical relationships, including scoping projects, presenting data, and building trust with engineering counterparts
  • Working knowledge of film testing methods (barrier/permeation testing, mechanical testing, seal integrity, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical results into business value for customers
  • Ability to travel to customer sites, up to 40%
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Packaging Science, Polymer Science, or Food Science
  • Experience manufacturing or specifying in the food or medical packaging industries
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory and sustainability frameworks used in the food and medical packaging industries
