Cnc Set-Up Operator Shift: 3rd Shift, 11:00pm To 7:00am
The CNC Set-Up Operator is responsible for producing precision machined parts by setting up and operating CNC machines to cut, shape, and form metal and non-metal materials to specification. This role requires strong blueprint reading skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform inspections to ensure quality and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC machining centers to produce parts per specifications
- Interpret complex drawings, program sheets, instructions, and process sheets
- Review setup sheets and specifications to determine machining sequence and final dimensions
- Perform diversified CNC operations including milling, drilling, boring, and related processes with close tolerances
- Load tools, fixtures, and materials; manipulate machine controls and enter commands
- Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions, tool wear, or irregular performance
- Perform in-process inspections and gauging to ensure quality standards are met
- Measure work pieces for conformance to specifications
- Make minor adjustments using override controls and notify supervisors of discrepancies or out-of-tolerance conditions
- Machine materials including metal, composites, plastics, and rubber
- Clean machines, tooling, and parts; perform routine machine maintenance
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
- High school diploma, GED, or skilled trade certificate
- CNC setup and operating experience
- Ability to read and understand written, visual, and verbal work instructions
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Knowledge of Odyssey manufacturing software preferred
- Strong math skills and basic computer proficiency
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to frequently lift/carry up to 15 lbs and occasionally up to 45 lbs
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and use hands for a minimum of 8 hours per day
- Industrial machining environment
- Standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion required
- Use of hand tools, measuring instruments, and CNC equipment
