Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Description
Our Machesney Park, IL location is looking for a Maintenance/Machine Repair Technician for Cold Heading and Thread Rolling Machines who is interested in continuing to grow in their maintenance career. Knowledge of electrical components, high and low voltage, hydraulics, welding/fabricating and mechanical skill to dismantle machine components is required. The hours are 7 a.m.
- 3:30 p.m.
- Inspect machinery to diagnose malfunctions in equipment, repair/replace defective equipment as necessary.
- Test and repair malfunctioning production equipment/machinery and notify appropriate personnel.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment including machinery, cranes, forklift, etc.
- Assemble and install equipment using hand and power tools, welder, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, etc.
- Electrical repair knowledge desired.
- Advanced knowledge for use of:
Milling Machine, Brake press, Drill press, and general machine shop equipment. - Test water supply daily, maintain wastewater treatment equipment and process.
- Repair machinery such as lathe, mill, drill press, and other tools as required.
- Maintains current knowledge and actively addresses safety and environmental issues.
- Other duties may include: janitorial, plumbing, pipe fitting, painting, carpentry.
- Understand hydraulic principles, pneumatic principles, etc.
- Demonstrate high level of mechanical aptitude and must possess the knowledge of timing of cams and gears, how to set backlash, replace bushings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 3-5+ years maintenance experience.
- Associate’s degree from a Technical College preferred.
- Apprenticeship or Journeyman experience preferred.
- Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations.
- Forklift Truck Experience required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to complete routine production and quality reports.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Understanding and compliance with safety rules and regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
