Position Summary
The position works closely with the Quality Lab Team Leader and engineers to perform product inspections, submit PPAPs, make approval decisions, and complete required product testing. The position requires self‑motivation, organization, high attention to detail, problem solving skills, and mechanical aptitude.
Reports to: Quality Lab Team Leader.
Location: Machesney Park, IL.
FLSA: Hourly; $19–$23.
Essential Functions- Commit to FIELD’s Mission Statement, Core Values, and Fieldamentals.
- Perform work in an inspection laboratory environment with high organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Perform inspections of parts to ensure specs meet customer requirements.
- Complete and submit PPAPs for customer approval.
- Effectively read and understand material and process certifications.
- Complete dimensional reports in Microsoft Excel.
- Read, understand, and balloon customer and industry standard prints and specifications.
- Effectively manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Effectively perform work in Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Smartsheet.
- Communicate and collaborate with other functional areas.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Polite and professional manner.
- Experience in use of calipers, micrometers or other measuring tools.
- Experience with Blueprint Reading.
- Self‑motivated, organized, detail oriented.
- Able to solve problems independently.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work with interruptions and then able to re‑engage the former project.
- Ability to work with limited direct supervision.
- Willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
- A desire to be a positive contributor in a team‑based environment.
- Willing and able to learn new concepts and procedures in a short period of time.
- ISO
9001:2015 understanding. - Experience in the inspection of fasteners is strongly desired.
- Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) understanding.
- Post‑high school education and/or technical training.
- Understanding of engineering specifications such as ISO, DIN, ASTM, SAE, etc.
- Previous experience with an ERP system.
