Laser Operator

The Laser Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC fiber laser cutting equipment to produce precision sheet-metal parts for industrial carts, cabinets, tables, and workstations. This role ensures that materials are cut accurately, efficiently, and safely in alignment with production schedules and established quality standards.

• Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines, including Prima Power fiber laser systems, to produce precision sheet-metal components.
• Load and unload steel and stainless-steel sheet metal onto the laser bed safely and efficiently.
• Select and verify the correct programs, materials, and cutting parameters for each job.
• Monitor laser operation to ensure clean, accurate cuts, proper part nesting, and optimal machine performance.
• Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy, edge quality, and overall finish, removing dross or burrs as needed.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning to keep equipment in good working condition.
• Track production output and promptly report any quality concerns or machine issues to leadership.
• Move raw materials and finished parts using forklifts, pallet jacks, or overhead cranes.
• Follow all safety procedures related to laser operation, material handling, and general manufacturing practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area to support safe and productive operations.
• Assist with general production tasks and perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

• Proven experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment, preferably with laser cutters, press brakes, punches, or similar equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints to ensure parts meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Hands-on experience using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial machinery and hand tools.
• Previous experience with laser operation, including setup and monitoring of CNC laser cutting equipment.
• Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or overhead cranes for material movement.
• Strong attention to quality, with the ability to inspect parts for dimensional accuracy and edge finish.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to established safety procedures in a fast-paced production environment.
• Ability to work extended shifts and overtime in line with production demands.
• Experience in sheet-metal fabrication or metal fabrication, with familiarity in working with steel and stainless steel.
• Ability to perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning on production equipment.

• Prior fiber laser cutting experience, with familiarity in operating Prima Power fiber laser systems.
• Experience with press brake operation and machine setup in a fabrication environment.
• General assembly or general labor experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to use a variety of hand tools safely and effectively.
• Experience working in environments with high noise levels, dust, chemicals, oil, and grease.
• Comfort working in hot, cold, or humid conditions typical of manufacturing facilities.
• Strong work ethic and reliability, with the ability to contribute to a high-volume production team.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
