Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically driven Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer to lead process and manufacturing engineering initiatives supporting aerospace, defense, and flight-critical hardware applications.

This role is responsible for developing robust manufacturing processes, supporting qualification activities, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards including AS9100 and customer-specific requirements.

The ideal candidate brings strong CNC machining and aerospace manufacturing experience with expertise in process development, tooling strategy, risk mitigation, and operational improvement within highly regulated manufacturing environments.

What You'll Do

Process Development & Manufacturing Engineering
  • Lead development and implementation of manufacturing processes for aerospace and defense hardware applications
  • Develop and support:
    • PFMEA
    • Control Plans
    • First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation
    • Part Qualification/Re-Qualification activities
  • Define:
    • machining sequences
    • datums
    • cutting strategies
    • in-process inspection requirements
  • Partner closely with machining and tooling planners to optimize manufacturing processes
Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization
  • Industrialize and improve machining and manufacturing processes
  • Analyze manufacturing data to improve:
    • process control
    • quality performance
    • production efficiency
  • Develop and update:
    • work instructions
    • manufacturing documentation
    • process standards
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing:
    • Lean Manufacturing
    • Six Sigma
    • continuous improvement tools and methodologies
Technical Leadership & Problem Solving
  • Coordinate and support multiple high-complexity manufacturing projects
  • Provide technical leadership across cross-functional and multi-site teams
  • Support Quality and MRB activities through:
    • root cause analysis
    • corrective actions
    • repair planning
  • Mentor and support lower-level engineers and technical personnel
  • Assist in identifying organizational and technical capability improvement opportunities
Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with:
    • AS9100 standards
    • customer requirements
    • aerospace quality standards
  • Partner with Quality teams on:
    • APQP
    • MSA
    • GR&R activities
  • Support internal and external audit activities
Safety & Operational Support
  • Promote and maintain safe manufacturing operations
  • Follow and support all company safety procedures and regulations
  • Support technical training for:
    • Sales
    • Estimating
    • Manufacturing teams
Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • related Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of aerospace-type critical parts manufacturing/process engineering experience
  • Strong background in:
    • CNC machining
    • manufacturing process development
    • aerospace manufacturing
  • Experience machining materials such as:
    • titanium
    • Inconel
  • Strong understanding of:
    • GD&T
    • blueprint reading
    • tooling and fixture design
  • Experience with:
    • SPC
    • statistical analysis
    • Lean Manufacturing
    • Six Sigma methodologies
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
Strongly Preferred
  • 8-10 years of aerospace manufacturing/process engineering experience
  • Experience with:
    • AS9100 environments
    • 3rd party audits
    • Vericut/simulation software
    • CAD/CAM systems
    • 3D modeling tools
  • Experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers
  • Experience supporting aerospace OEMs, defense contractors, or AS9100-certified machining environments strongly preferred
