Building Inspector – Community Development Department
City of Macomb – Community Development Department
The City of Macomb, Illinois, is hiring a Building Inspector in the Community Development Department.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct residential, commercial, and industrial building inspections to ensure compliance with applicable building and property maintenance codes.
- Review permits, construction plans, and site developments for compliance with City ordinances and regulations.
- Investigate complaints, document violations, and coordinate corrective actions with property owners and contractors.
- Provide guidance and customer service to residents, contractors, and developers regarding permitting and code requirements.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, enforcement documentation, and related reports using City software systems.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; related construction, inspection, or code enforcement experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and customer service skills.
- ICC certification preferred or ability to obtain certification within 12 months of employment.
- Salary: $49,691.76-$66,255.68 annually
