Position: PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN

Expected pay for this position is $17.87-$25.02. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

Job Summary

Provides clinical and clerical assistance in the Emergency Department while under the direction of a registered professional nurse or licensed physician. Responsible for the treatment of patients through utilization of basic life support skills. Assures safe transportation for patients to and from the hospital in normal and sometimes hazardous emergencies.

Job Specifications

Education and Experience

High school graduate or equivalent. Required to be currently enrolled or have completed an EMT-B, CNA, LPN or Medical Assistant program (or current RN nursing students). Required to have current American Heart Association CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date. Current CPI certification required.

Job Knowledge

Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and practices, knowledge of medical terminology, first aid procedures and protocols, medical and technical equipment used, and aseptic technique. Must possess working knowledge of the rules and regulations concerning child abuse, domestic violence, elder abuse, and guardianship. The patient population must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.
