When not assigned to a patient sitter role, the CNA Patient Sitter is expected to assist and provide CNA-level support in other assigned departments, including Acute Care, Emergency Department (ED), Obstetrics (OB), and Intensive Care Unit (ICU), based on organizational need. Employees in this role must maintain all required competencies, credentials, and training necessary to function in those areas.
Job Summary- The CNA Patient Sitter works under the direction of the Nurse Manager and the direct supervision of a Professional Registered Nurse to provide continuous observation and support for patients exhibiting behaviors that may place themselves or others at risk for harm. This role is a critical component of the continuum of care, supporting patient safety, dignity, and well-being through individualized observation and care activities as directed by the licensed nursing staff.
The CNA Patient Sitter promotes a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment while supporting the efficiency and effectiveness of the nursing team.
Minimum Experience:
Previous healttcare experience preferred.
- Education:
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required.
- Active IL CNA certification
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
- CPI training required within 90 days of hire
- Must maintain any additional certifications, competencies, or education required to work in Acute Care, ED, OB, and ICU as assigned
