Provides full range of direct therapy services to patients and family members/significant others participating in general counseling services and specialty groups as assigned by the Director in accordance with therapist training and skill level.
Job SpecificationsEducation and Experience
Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work required. State licensure (LCPC, LCSW) or ability to test for a state licensure within 2 years, is required. Experience in behavioral health treatment setting preferred.
Job KnowledgeMust have a broad base of clinical skills. Must have knowledge of interdisciplinary team concept. Must have knowledge of a full range of behavioral health concerns. Must have an understanding of family systems, dual diagnoses and general individual and group counseling skills. The patient population must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.
Abilities, Interests and Temperaments- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with people of diverse backgrounds and education levels.
- Ability to accept different viewpoints, support new treatment ideas and modalities.
- Must practice the fundamental professional attitude of "acceptance".
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.
- Ability to assess patient needs and to develop individual treatment plans for assigned patients.
- Ability to facilitate individual, family, couple, and group sessions.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationship with community referral sources.
- Ability to maintain ethical standards as outlined in department policy and procedure manual.
- Emotionally stable and mature. Capable of developing and maintaining positive working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and members of the community.
- Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, anda variety of mental health and substance use diagnoses).
