American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring RDCS-AE certification and 2+ years of experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer
  • Current BLS certification (AHA)
  • RDCS-AE certification via ARDMS required
  • RVT certification via ARDMS preferred
  • Graduate of an approved Allied Health program with additional ultrasound training
  • Registered in Adult Vascular and Echo through ARDMS or CCI
  • Ability to scan adult patients required; pediatric scanning experience is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, ultrasound physics, and instrumentation
  • Must be able to push ultrasound equipment for portable studies and maintain awkward transducer positioning for lengthy exams
  • License required if applicable

Responsibilities

  • Acute care hospital setting within the Cardiopulmonary/Echocardiography department
  • Adult cardiac patient population
  • Uses Cerner EMR
  • Monday-Friday day shift schedule, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
  • No call required for echo-only duties
  • Vascular coverage required one weekend per month, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Perform complete cardiac echo studies on adult patients
  • Provide diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for cardiac and vascular disorders per physician orders
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to develop patient care plans
  • Educate patients and family members regarding cardiopulmonary procedures
  • Reports to the Leader of Cardiopulmonary
  • Work with diverse patient populations, including those with pain, developmental needs, and specific diagnoses such as congestive heart failure
  • Use ultrasound imaging systems, physiologic doppler systems, EKG machines, Holter monitors, and stress testing equipment
  • Client may cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week assignment without penalty
