Role Description

The School-Based Therapist is a full-time, on-site role located in Macomb, IL, providing behavioral health services within a school setting. This role involves conducting individual and group therapy sessions with students, completing clinical assessments, and developing evidence-informed treatment plans in collaboration with school staff and caregivers. The therapist monitors progress, adjusts interventions as needed, and maintains accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory standards.

Daily responsibilities include crisis intervention when necessary, coordination of care with external providers, and participation in school and agency meetings to support a safe, inclusive learning environment. The School-Based Therapist also engages in outreach, psychoeducation, and prevention activities that promote mental health and well-being among students, families, and school personnel.

Qualifications
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a mental health professional (e.g., LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, or equivalent) and a master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience providing therapy to children and adolescents in school, community, or outpatient settings, with strong skills in assessment, treatment planning, and evidence-informed interventions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, administrators, caregivers, and community partners to support student success and coordinated care.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills, including proficiency with electronic health records and time management.
  • Training or familiarity with crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive, person-centered practices.
  • Commitment to ethical, non-discriminatory practice and the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Macomb, IL, with reliability in scheduling, professional boundaries, and adherence to agency and school policies.
  • Previous experience in school-based services, special education environments, or integrated care teams is preferred but not required.
