Payment & Benefits
- Expected pay for this position is $17.55-$23.69. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

The Operating Room Aide provides non-licensed support to the perioperative services department by assisting with operating room preparation, room turnover, supply management, equipment transport, specimen transport, and other support functions that promote efficient surgical services. The Operating Room Aide works under the direction of the Registered Nurse, Surgical Services Leader, Charge Nurse, or Surgical Technologist and contributes to a safe, clean, and efficient environment while allowing licensed staff to focus on direct patient care.
This position may be cross-trained to assist in other departments based on organizational needs.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to safely lift, transport, and move equipment and supplies.
- Medical, Dental, Vision

- Previous healthcare experience.
- Previous operating room, central sterile, environmental services, or patient care support experience.
- Infection prevention practices
- Standard and transmission-based precautions
- PPE requirements
- Aseptic principles
- OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard
- Safe handling of specimens
- Hazardous materials (Safety Data Sheets)
- Hospital safety policies
- Disaster procedures
- Patient confidentiality (HIPAA)
- Departmental policies and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple assignments.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail while preparing rooms and supplies.
- Ability to recognize urgent situations and promptly notify appropriate personnel.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and transport equipment and supplies.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and departmental needs.
- Demonstrates dependability, flexibility, and excellent attendance.
