We have a member located in West Central Illinois who will be without their HR Manager for a number of weeks. This is a great opportunity for an HR practitioner who wants the flexibility of consulting while being hands-on in delivering meaningful HR solutions.
About the RoleThis role is the heartbeat of our member's people operations. You'll support the day-to-day HR and administrative processes that keep employees paid, supported, compliant, and informed. From coordinating recruiting efforts, handling benefits questions to managing leave administration, reimbursements, and employee records, you'll play a key role in creating a smooth employee experience while keeping the organization organized and in compliance.
You will work closely with Operations, Safety, and Accounting to ensure processes are followed, documentation is accurate, and employees get timely answers and support. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable handling confidential information, and enjoys being the go-to person who keeps things moving behind the scenes.
Key Responsibilities Of This Role- Provide employee relations support, responding to employee questions regarding benefits, pay, attendance, and policies while teaming with leadership for serious concerns.
- Manage employee leave administration, including tracking usage, collecting medical certifications, and communicating approvals and return-to-work details.
- Maintain accurate, confidential personnel records and HR documentation.
- Support HR compliance efforts, including unemployment claims, workers' compensation coordination, and required recordkeeping.
- Partner with Safety and leadership on workers' compensation reporting, restrictions, and return-to-work support.
- Support benefits administration by answering employee questions and coordinating with brokers and carriers as needed.
- Coordinate employee performance review cycles, including distributing forms, tracking completion, and processing approved pay changes.
- Provide support for bi-weekly payroll administration, as needed.
- Be a trusted resource for employees, handling needs and questions with a personal, open-door approach.
- Work closely with leadership to foster an inclusive and respectful workplace where everyone feels valued.
- Onsite support at member location three (3) days per week (days can be flexible, but a consistent schedule is needed).
- Hours of Support: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Central Time.
- Estimated Project Timeline:
February 19, 2026 through April 20, 2026.
- Proven HR leadership experience with a focus on fostering positive employee relations and enhancing workplace culture. A minimum of 7 years of experience as an HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, up through HR Leadership positions is required.
- Professionals that carry a current HR certification from HRCI or SHRM are preferred.
- Prior experience as an external HR Consultant is preferred, but not required.
- A personable, approachable style and a commitment to nurturing a supportive work environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively work with and support employees at every level.
This opportunity is offered as a 1099 independent contractor engagement. Independent contractors working with AAIM are typically compensated in the range of $40 to $75 per hour, based on experience and scope of work. As an independent contractor, this engagement does not include employee benefits (such as health insurance, paid time off, etc.).
