Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under administrative supervision of the Superintendent of Building Maintenance, directs the preparation of in-house and contractual construction documents with institutional employees and outside architectural/engineering firms. In addition, this individual analyzes, develops and resolves planning issues, inspects construction of projects involving the maintenance, repair, remodeling, or new construction of buildings by institutional employees or outside contractors.

Duties include:

1. Monitors ongoing work performed by contractors on assigned construction or remodeling projects. Makes decisions in the field based on all information orms architects/engineers and institutional personnel of reasons for change and impact to the project. Remediates problems to minimize impact. Provides final inspection and evaluation of work performed by said contractor. Approves or disapproves application for payment by the contractor on the basis of work completed and quality of work.

2. Confers with requesting departments, administrative, and other related personnel regarding design and construction project progress.

3. Inspects proposed project sites, prepares field notes, sketches and reports. Presents findings orally and/or graphically.

4. Coordinates the development of schedules and cost estimates for projects based on engineering and/or architectural specifications and requirements.

5. Meets and interacts with university officials, outside agencies and/or consultants on campus building projects.

6. Supervises and/or prepares working drawings and specifications of site improvements and architectural projects (both exterior and interior).

7. Other related duties.

APPOINTMENT:
As soon as possible

MONTHLY WAGE: $4,529-$4,981 (anticipated starting salary of $4,529)

Requirements:
  • Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the following categories:
  • A. Work experience in construction management, building project management or a closely related field.
    B. College coursework in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
    • Associate Degree (60 semester hours) equals one (1) year (12 months)
    • 90-semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
    • Bachelor's Degree or higher (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
    2. Three (3) years (36 months) of building construction management and/or building project management experience comparable to the lower level of this series.

    Pre-graduation applicants are welcome to apply. In order to be considered for employment, the degree must be conferred at the time of application, unless applicant is in the final semester of a degree program; if so, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment. For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).
