Maintenance Mechanic

General Statement Of Responsibilities

Installs and repairs mechanical systems, apparatus, and mechanical components of industrial machinery and equipment.

• Maintain and repair plant equipment, machinery, and systems; service, install, and repair plant plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Perform millwright, welding, and carpentry work as needed.
• Inspect, evaluate, and recommend repairs or replacement of equipment and machinery.
• Observe, troubleshoot equipment, dismantle if necessary, and determine causes of trouble; repair or replace defective parts.
• Lubricate and clean parts as needed.
• Test equipment to evaluate repair or need for further repair.
• Set up and operate equipment and machinery such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools that aid in repair.
• Support the plant quality systems goals and productivity improvements within the scope of the job.
• Support the plant safety programs and goals within the scope of the job.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Comply with applicable company, corporate, state, and federal regulations.
• Apply 5S (Sort, Shine, Set in Order, Standardize, and Sustain) to every job.

Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience. Completion of any formalized training courses as identified by the Department Supervisor or Facilities Engineering Manager.

• Language – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with vendors or employees of the organization.
• Math – Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
• Reasoning – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Physical – Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally more than 100 pounds.
• Work Environment – Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Noise level can be very loud.

Starting Wage:
Base starting wage is $21.96 – $32.87 per hour. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job‑related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. At NTN, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
