Intermediate Carpenter – Commercial Restoration & Reconstruction

This position is responsible for providing operational support in reconstruction efforts for clients. Qualified candidates must have extensive carpentry experience and the capability to work with little supervision. Candidates must be able to assist with scope development with Our Client Estimators and run projects autonomously.

An Intermediate Carpenter will participate in the development of basic-level carpenters. Intermediate development objectives include: (1) expanding capability from residential to commercial and multi-family projects; (2) competence in leading and self-performing emergency services; and (3) increased material knowledge and proficiency with various carpentry subsets, including framing, cabinetry, trim, etc. This position is Level 3 in the Progressive Carpenter track.

Responsibilities include recognizing potential problems with the project and timely request additional guidance and assistance, answering most questions regarding the project and directing more specific or complicated questions to the appropriate resource, moving and protecting contents without damage, constructing appropriate containment for construction dust, dirt, and airborne contaminants in the working area, using appropriate tools and accepted Our Client methods, performing tasks related to flood cutting, salvaging, and labeling baseboards, cabinets, doors, etc.,

attending and successfully completing shrink-wrap training and completing 4 projects containing shrink wrap, developing the ability to identify different types of insulation, their thickness, and their respective R-value, applying learned skills and materials knowledge relative to trim, doors, cabinetry, insulation, rough framing, acoustical ceilings, roofing materials, and exterior siding to daily tasks, performing daily vehicle safety and maintenance inspections and maintaining vehicles in clean, serviceable condition, maintaining attention to detail, meeting Our Client standards in safeguarding other people's property, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of customer service principles and practices, working under time constraints to meet specific timelines, working nights and weekends as requested and traveling periodically, reporting time worked and equipment and consumables used timely and accurately, and attending Our Client-sponsored operations and safety training courses as required.

Requirements include supervision of unskilled labor, Basic Level Our Client employees, and occasional subcontractors in any residential setting, answering simple questions about the project and knowing when to defer questions to more qualified personnel, maintaining equipment used in daily tasks, performing emergency services as needed, including board-ups and securing buildings against further damage, and performing additional duties as required.
