Position Available: Entry-Level Accountant
- Financial Services
Twiggs County is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated professional to join our finance team as an Entry-Level Accountant – Financial Services. This position provides essential support for the County’s financial operations and is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their accounting career in a government environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Recording and processing financial transactions related to County operations
- Assisting with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures
- Reconciling bank statements, accounts, and internal ledgers
- Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Assisting with preparation and monitoring of the County budget
- Supporting financial reporting and audit preparation
- Assisting with preparation of financial statements and regulato1y reports
- Managing grant funds and ensuring expenditures are properly accounted for
- Preparing and submitting grant reports in accordance with grant requirements and reporting standards
- Analyzing financial data to identify discrepancies and variances
- Maintaining organized financial records and documentation
- Collaborating with internal departments to ensure accurate reporting and compliance
- Providing administrative support and assisting with special projects and process improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
- High school diploma with at least five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting experience may be considered
- Government accounting experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software preferred
