As an Administrative Assistant with Macon‑Bibb County Environmental Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals working to protect the health and well‑being of communities across the state by supporting vital public health initiatives. The Administrative Assistant performs a wide range of clerical and administrative support functions, which include serving as the primary point of contact for the public for inquiries by phone and in‑person, data entry, record maintenance, document preparation and assisting with billing functions.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Serves as a primary point of contact for the public when calling or entering the office.
- Provides general clerical support including data entry/maintenance, copying, faxing documents.
- Generates bulk billing for annual fees in regulated program areas.
- Collects and enters accurate information for facilities and complaints.
- Provides clerical support and excellent customer service to clients.
- Receives and directs telephone calls and faxes accordingly.
- Participates in all required training.
- Helps with emergency preparedness response during declared emergencies.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of job‑related experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Proficient in the core applications of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Experience using the Digital Health Department (DHD) platform.
State of Georgia employees are subject to the rules of the State Personnel Board regarding salary.
DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials.
