Job Description
Mercer's Office of Marketing Communications has overall responsibility for institutional positioning and branding and for communication with Mercer's diverse constituencies. Marketing Communications coordinates media relations, photography, graphic design, digital communications, video production, arts marketing, creates and disseminates content for Mercer's website and social media platforms, and also publishes The Mercerian, the University's award-winning bi-annual magazine for alumni and friends.
Video Production InternMercer's Office of Marketing Communications is seeking a Video Production Intern who is creative and has a passion for impactful storytelling. You are required to have ample filming and editing experience, and knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software. You will be responsible for filming b-roll of high-profile University events such as Opening Days/Bear Beginnings weekend, Homecoming, select football games, Founders' Day, Commencement, and more.
You will also be responsible for creating content for Mercer's website and social media platforms. This internship is a great opportunity for you to build a significant portfolio showcasing your videography and production skills while working with an award-winning marketing team. Our office values creativity, and we want to see you explore new ideas and projects of your own. You will become a trusted member of the department with considerable responsibilities and lots of support and training.
- Extensive knowledge of camera operations, audio, and lighting equipment
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software (primarily Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop)
- Ability to tell a story through filming and editing
- Ability to work and communicate in both a team environment and independently to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Highly motivated, self-starter with a willingness to learn
- Preferred, but not required:
Previous related experience through internships or commercial work beyond class projects
- Filming quality b-roll footage of high-profile University events (some nights and weekends required)
- Producing content for Mercer's website and social media platforms
- Filming interviews for This Week@Mercer e-newsletter and Bear on the Street video series
- Assisting Video Producer with all aspects of video production for larger projects
- Editing audio and video content as necessary
- Compiling, organizing, and transferring all footage
- Reporting to Video Producer and other creative staff to execute concepts through to completion
- Performing other duties as assigned
- The intern will be compensated $15.00/hour, up to 15 hours per week
