** The Chattahoochee Fall Line (CFL) Science & Planning Specialist will develop, manage and advance conservation programs, plans and methods for the Conservancy’s Chattahoochee Fall Line program.  Your talents and efforts will help us achieve our ambitious land protection, conservation, and stewardship goals.  Reporting to the CFL Program Director, this role collaborates with and supports the CFL Stewardship & Fire Program Manager as well as the CFL Land Protection Manager in advancing program goals.
** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
** The CFL Science & Planning Specialist provides technical leadership and support to the CFL program and Georgia business unit and plans and influences land protection, preserve management programs, and stewardship.  The CFL Science & Planning Specialist addresses critical threats to natural systems and individual species, fosters cross-site learning among conservation community, and supplies conservation planning teams with site or landscape level information relevant to the planning process.  

The CFL Science & Planning Specialist develops and implements conservation strategies and employs a full range of protection tools to acquire varying degrees of legal interest in land and implements a variety of strategies to secure public and private support for TNC conservation priorities.  The CFL Science & Planning Specialist coordinates community support, informs and collaborates with key internal and external partners, coordinates multiple projects, sets deadlines and manages to completion.
** RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
*** Supervises no staff but may oversee and direct work of office volunteers or interns.
* Performs tasks with minimal supervision and makes independent decisions based on analysis, experience and context.
* Ensures program compliance with internal policies and external requirement

** What You’ll Bring:
*** Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in natural resource management or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Relationship building experience to work closely with a variety of partners, i.e., media, government officials, internal scientists.
* Experience completing tasks independently with respect to timeline(s).
* Experience with communication via written, spoken and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.
* Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, web browsers, etc.
* Skill and experience with ArcGIS software.
** Desired Qualifications
*** Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
* 3-5 years’ experience in natural resource management, similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Ability and willingness to apply science to decision-making and guide activities.
* Experience / familiarity with principles of land acquisition and associated due diligence work.
* Familiarization with conservation easements and monitoring of same.
* Knowledge of ecological land management principles.
* Familiarization with ecological monitoring protocols and execution.
* Knowledge of / experience with longleaf pine conservation, including forestry, prescribed fire, and overall restoration techniques.
* Knowledge of current trends and practices in conservation, land management and natural resource preservation.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently, with assignments sometimes coming from a number of sources.
