The Middle Georgia State University School of Aviation is a nationally recognized leader in aviation education. The Aviation Maintenance Technology and Aircraft Structural Technology programs offer both degree and certificate options. In addition, aviation related training is available to high school students through dual enrollment opportunities.
Job SummaryThis position is primarily responsible for teaching aviation maintenance courses to both traditional college students and high school dual enrollment students. Lecturers will be expected to have the skill set to teach in both the Aviation Maintenance Technology program and the Aircraft Structural Technology program. Teaching duties will require both the ability to present theory through lecture and demonstrate skills, and manage students in a shop environment.
This is a full-time, 10-month faculty position in the Department of Aviation Maintenance and Structural Technology.
- Teach various Aviation Maintenance Technology courses covering all FAA curriculum included in the Airman Certification Standards (FAA‑S‑ACS‑1).
- Teach courses in the Aircraft Structural Technology program, requiring proficiency in sheet metal and composite construction and repair.
- Advise aviation students on academic and career aspirations.
- Develop course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and lab projects.
- Maintain working lab/shop environments and training aids.
- Evaluate student achievement and competence.
- Collaborate with faculty and the occupational advisory committee.
- Help with recruitment of students by attending K‑12 career fairs and conducting on‑campus tours.
Associate's degree required in Aviation or a field related to the teaching discipline.
OtherRequired Qualifications
- AA – Airframe & Powerplant Certification required.
- Demonstrate ability to teach a broad array of aviation training courses.
Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Experience- Teaching experience in aviation.
- Industry experience in aviation maintenance.
