JOB SUMMARY

This position plans and implements an instructional music program which provides an opportunity for students to learn about and enjoy musical experiences as performers and consumers in a positive learning environment and is appropriate to the needs, interests and abilities of the students served.

* Participate in professional learning to enhance ability to provide engaging online instruction a. Participate in required Professional Learning that leads to virtual teaching endorsement

* Clearly articulates deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to ensure that students complete coursework in a timely manner

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Teacher Duties and Responsibilities

* Follows professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, students' records, parents, and colleagues

* Interacts in a professional manner with students and parents

* Is available to students and parents for conferences according to district policies

* Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications

* Maintains confidentiality of students and students' records

* Works cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents

* Complies with school, district, and state administrative regulations and Board of Education policies

* Conducts assigned classes at the times scheduled

* Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline

* Is punctual

* Provides adequate information, plans, and materials for substitute teacher

* Maintains accurate, complete and appropriate records and files reports promptly

* Attends and participates in faculty meeting and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy

* Complies with conditions as stated in the Contract of Employment

* Demonstrates professional practices in teaching

* Models correct use of language, oral and written

* Demonstrates accurate and up-to-date knowledge of content

* Implements designated curriculum

* Maintains lesson plans as required by school policy

* Assigns reasonable tasks and homework to students

* Acts in a professional manner and assumes responsibility for the total school program, its safety and good order

* Takes precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities

* Assumes responsibility for supervising students in out-of-class settings

* Other Duties

* Recruits and tests prospective choral music students.

* Teaches general music students in grades K through 5 in accordance with the course of study and materials as outlined in the Bibb County Curriculum Guide and county adopted books; develops written sequential lesson plans weekly and presents them to the principal.

* Develops and directs at least one performing choral music group annually which will be assessed by judges at a Georgia Music Educators Association large group festival.

* Performs teaching responsibilities as identified in the Georgia Teacher Evaluation Program criteria.

* Maintains contact with parents and school administration regarding the school music program.

* Adheres to the Georgia Music Educators Association rules as well as the Georgia Department of Education policies regarding eligibility of 6th grade students each quarter for classes requiring performances outside the regular school day.

* Maintains inventory records of all instruments and equipment.

* Submits orders and necessary reports in a timely manner; attends staff meetings as scheduled.

* Plans and performs musical programs for approved school, civic, social and professional organizations as well as the general public.

* Participates in workshops, staff development courses, in-service conferences and related activities for the purpose of continued professional growth.

* Schedules periodic rehearsals and instructional periods outside school hours to augment in-school instruction in preparation for various performances.

* Performs other duties as required by the District, the school, or student need.
