Middle Georgia State University is seeking a part‑time Student Assistant to serve as a Supplemental Instructor (SI) Leader or Embedded Tutor (ET) in the Student Success Center.

As a Supplemental Instructor (SI) Leader

• Attend weekly lectures of historically difficult courses as a model student, build rapport with students, and plan SI collaborative review sessions.
• Help students reinforce knowledge from class lectures and assignments and offer strategies to integrate “how to learn” with “what to learn.”
• Meet regularly with the faculty member and attend SSC training.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure FERPA compliance.

As an Embedded Tutor (ET)

• Assist faculty with in‑class support, primarily for Corequisite Math and English courses.
• Attend corequisite lectures as required.
• Meet regularly with the faculty member and attend SSC training.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure FERPA compliance.

• Currently enrolled MGA student.
• Enrolled in 6 or more semester hours per semester.
• GPA of 3.00 or greater.
• Grade of A or B in the SI course, taken at MGA or a transfer institution.
• Faculty recommendation on campus.
• Demonstrated course content competency via transcript and faculty recommendation.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong commitment to public service.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Relevant experience in academic support, tutoring, or mentoring.
