Eligibility

Candidates must be certified in, or eligible for certification in Early Childhood Education (K‑5). Certification in Math preferred. Alternative certification routes are available for individuals with a degree from an accredited institution.

Job Summary

This position plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students and creates an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of children to ensure achievement and performance for every child.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teach at an appropriate instructional level and provide content development.
  • Build learning experiences for transfer and promote student engagement.
  • Assess and encourage student progress, monitor, and respond to student needs.
  • Manage the learning environment: use time efficiently, maintain physical setting, and appropriate student behavior.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders via virtual platform and written/oral forms.
  • Participate in professional learning, including required training leading to virtual teaching endorsement.
  • Articulate deadlines and procedures to students and parents to ensure timely completion of coursework.
  • Follow professional practices consistent with school and district policies.
  • Provide home‑school communication through conferences, telephone, and written communication.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Work cooperatively with administrators, support personnel, colleagues, and parents.
  • Comply with school, district, and state regulations and Board of Education policies.
  • Conduct classes at scheduled times.
  • Enforce regulations concerning student conduct and discipline.
  • Provide information, plans, and materials for substitute teachers.
  • Maintain accurate records and report promptly.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and other required meetings.
  • Demonstrate professional teaching practices, correct use of language, oral and written.
  • Maintain lesson plans as required by school policy.
  • Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students.
  • Assume responsibility for student safety, supervise in out‑of‑class settings, and protect records, equipment, and facilities.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the district, school, or student needs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of student growth and development.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents related to safety, technology, and educational procedures.
  • Ability to prepare and communicate effectively through written reports, lesson plans, and correspondence.
  • Skill in computing and interpreting data, including rate, ratio, and percent calculations.
  • Proficiency in PC operations and software applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets).
  • Capability to serve as a liaison with various professionals and collaborate with parents and guardians.
  • Capacity to adapt instructional strategies and provide accommodations for individual student needs.
  • Strong physical capability to manage classroom and student needs, including potential crisis intervention situations.
Certification, License, and

Special Requirements

Must obtain clearance certificate from GaPSC.

Salary and Benefits
  • 190‑day work year.
  • Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule and position supplements.
