Job DescriptionCandidates must be certified or eligible for certification in Early Childhood Education (K-5) with a preference for Math certification. Bibb County is a Strategic Waiver District and offers Alternative Certification routes for individuals holding a degree from an accredited institution.
JOB SUMMARY
This position plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students, creating an atmosphere conducive to their intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development and ensuring achievement for every child.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Teaching Tasks
- Provides instruction at an appropriate instructional level
- Builds for transfer and assesses student progress
- Responds to both adequate and inadequate student progress
- Provides support for student learning and manages the learning environment
- Uses time efficiently and maintains an effective physical setting for instruction
- Maintains appropriate student behavior in the classroom
- Virtual Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicates effectively with all stakeholders on the virtual platform, in both written and oral form
- Uses a variety of programs and software applications to complete instructional and administrative tasks
- Participates in professional learning to enhance online instruction and pursue virtual teaching endorsement
- Articulates deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to ensure timely completion of coursework
- Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
- Follows professional practices consistent with school and district policies
- Interacts professionally with students and parents, and is available for conferences as required
- Facilitates home‑school communication through conferences, telephoning, and written communications
- Maintains confidentiality of student records
- Works cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents
- Complies with school, district, state regulations and Board of Education policies
- Conducts assigned classes at scheduled times, enforces student conduct regulations, and is punctual
- Provides information, plans, and materials for substitute teachers and maintains accurate records
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings per school policy
- Demonstrates professional teaching practices, models correct language usage, and maintains lesson plans
- Assigns reasonable tasks and homework to students and assumes responsibility for the total school program, its safety, and good order
- Takes precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities while supervising students in out‑of‑class settings
- Other Duties
- Performs additional duties as required based on the content area taught, including competitions and after‑hours activities
- Plans and coordinates assignments for paraprofessionals, other supporting staff, and volunteers and provides input to administrative staff
- Performs duties required by the district, school, or student needs
- Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university
- Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of student growth and development
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety, technology, and educational documents
- Ability to prepare and communicate effectively through written reports, lesson plans, and correspondence
- Skill in computing and interpreting data, including rate, ratio, and percent calculations
- Proficiency in PC operations and software applications such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheets
- Capability to serve as a liaison with various professionals and collaborate effectively with parents and guardians
- Capacity to adapt instructional strategies and provide accommodations to meet individual student needs
- Strong physical capability to manage classroom and student needs, including potential crisis intervention situations
- Certification, License and Special Requirements
- Ability to obtain clearance certificate from GaPSC
- 190‑day work year
- Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule with position supplements
