Job Description JOB SUMMARYThis position is dedicated to improving student achievement and graduation rates by developing personalized achievement plans for at‑risk students. It involves identifying potential dropouts in collaboration with feeder schools, analyzing comprehensive student data, and crafting targeted instructional plans. The specialist acts as a liaison with support services, collaborates with counselors and teachers on effective intervention strategies, and supports professional development for educators.
Effective communication with students, parents, teachers, and stakeholders is essential. The specialist also participates in relevant programs, meetings, and educational conferences to enhance student success.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Works with students to develop an achievement plan to include the best program to increase content mastery and graduation rate.
- Collaborates with feeder schools to utilize characteristics of potential dropouts and identify students with a high probability of not graduating.
- Conducts an analysis that focuses on data for individual students and subgroups such as:
- State standardized tests
- District initiatives
- Local records: attendance, behavior, student/teacher/parent conferences, meeting minutes and grade retention records
- Develops instructional plans for at‑risk students.
- Serves as a liaison for other support services that can assist the student.
- Works with counselors and teachers to provide instructional interventions using Leader In Me, PBIS, and other strategies that will support student achievement.
- Supports teachers with ongoing professional development, including initiatives such as Get Better Faster.
- Communicates effectively within the educational community for the support of students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders.
- Attends programs, meetings, and educational conferences as necessary or required.
- Participates in vertical team meetings among feeder school(s) faculty and staff to develop action steps to improve students and subgroup transition success rate.
Bachelor’s degree in education (Master’s degree preferred). Candidates must be certified in, or eligible for certification in, education. School‑based experience is required. An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and abilities is acceptable.
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Understanding of intervention principals and practices.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing data‑driven, research‑based interventions tailored to individual student needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, parents, and other stakeholders in the intervention process.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining a positive and supportive learning environment for students requiring intervention.
- Knowledge of various assessment techniques specific to monitoring student progress in intervention programs.
- Experience in developing and implementing individualized education plans and interventions to support student success.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Organizational skills to manage intervention activities and responsibilities effectively.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of students and the intervention program.
- Ability to obtain clearance certificate from GaPSC.
- Meets Georgia state certification requirements in an appropriate field of education.
- 195 day work year.
- Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule and position supplement(s).

This position is grant funded and is contingent on availability of funds.
