Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, provides instruction to students in the classroom and lab settings, prepares syllabi and lesson plans, develops program goals and objectives. The instructor must possess the ability to teach all phases of the curriculum, demonstrate appropriate teaching techniques, use appropriate testing and grading procedures, maintain grade books, and keep accurate records. Effective oral and written communication skills are required.

The instructor follows the approved course syllabus, attends professional development training, meets with students and college personnel to discuss instructional programs, evaluates student progress, completes reports and invoices promptly, and maintains accurate inventory of assigned properties.

Follows rules and regulations described by the Bibb County Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution. Position involves teaching traditional day.

Teaching Tasks
  • Provides Instruction: teaches at an appropriate instructional level, provides content development, and builds for transfer.
  • Assesses and Encourages Student Progress: promotes student engagement, monitors student progress, responds to both adequate and inadequate student progress, and supports students.
  • Manages the Learning Environment: uses time efficiently, maintains an effective physical setting for instruction, and maintains appropriate student behavior in the classroom.
Virtual Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communicates effectively with all stakeholders in the virtual platform in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills.
  • Uses a variety of programs and software applications to complete instructional and administrative tasks.
  • Participates in professional learning to enhance ability to provide engaging online instruction, including virtual teaching endorsement.
  • Clearly articulates deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to ensure that students complete coursework on time.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    follows professional practices, interacts with students and parents, is available for conferences, facilitates home‑school communication, maintains confidentiality of students and records, works cooperatively with administrators and colleagues, and complies with regulations.
  • Conducts assigned classes at scheduled times, enforces student conduct regulations, is punctual, provides information for substitute teachers, maintains accurate records, attends faculty meetings, and complies with employment contract conditions.
  • Demonstrates professional practices in teaching: models correct use of language, demonstrates accurate knowledge, implements curriculum, maintains lesson plans, assigns reasonable tasks and homework.
  • Acts professionally and assumes responsibility for the school program, safety and order, protects records and facilities, and supervises students out‑of‑class settings.
  • Other Duties: performs duties required by the content area taught, coordinates assignments for supporting staff, and meets district, school, or student needs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Earned associate degree in Industrial Systems Technology or closely related field from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and one year minimum full‑time documented work experience in the discipline.

Applicants who do not meet the standard academic qualification may be considered if they hold post‑secondary credentials in Industrial Systems Technology or a closely related field with demonstrated competence in the discipline to be taught.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial Systems Technology or a closely related accredited field.
  • Documented work experience with industrial robotics.
