Job DescriptionThe role focuses on improving student achievement and graduation rates by developing personalized achievement plans for at‑risk students. Responsibilities include identifying potential dropouts in collaboration with feeder schools, analyzing comprehensive student data, crafting targeted instructional plans, liaising with support services, collaborating with counselors and teachers on effective intervention strategies, supporting professional development for educators, and communicating with students, parents, teachers, and stakeholders.
The specialist also participates in relevant programs, meetings, and educational conferences to enhance student success.
- Work with students to develop an achievement plan to promote content mastery and graduation.
- Collaborate with feeder schools to identify students with a high probability of not graduating.
- Conduct data analysis for individual students and subgroups, including:
- State standardized tests
- District initiatives
- Local records such as attendance, behavior, conferences, meeting minutes, and grade retention records
- Develop instructional plans for at‑risk students.
- Serve as a liaison for other support services that can assist the student.
- Provide instructional interventions using Leader In Me, PBIS, and other strategies.
- Support teachers with ongoing professional development, including programs such as Get Better Faster.
- Communicate effectively within the educational community.
- Attend programs, meetings, and educational conferences as needed.
- Participate in vertical team meetings among feeder school faculty and staff to improve transition success.
• Bachelor’s degree in education or Master’s degree preferred. Candidates must be certified in, or eligible for certification in, education. School‑based experience required, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Understanding of intervention principles and practices.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing data‑driven, research‑based interventions tailored to individual student needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Knowledge of assessment techniques for monitoring student progress in intervention programs.
- Experience in developing and implementing individualized education plans and interventions to support student success.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Organizational skills to manage intervention activities and responsibilities.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving student and program needs.
Special Requirements
- Obtain clearance certificate from GaPSC.
- Meet Georgia state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
- 195 day work year.
- Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule and position supplement(s).
