Job Description

Candidates must be certified in, or eligible for certification in Early Childhood Education (K-5). Bibb County is a Strategic Waiver District. Alternative Certification routes are available to individuals with a degree from an accredited institution.

Essentials Job Functions
  • Provides instruction at appropriate instructional level for K–2 students.
  • Prepares and delivers content aligned with curriculum.
  • Develops extension activities and supports transfer of learning.
  • Assesses and monitors student progress, encourages engagement, and provides support.
  • Manages the learning environment, uses time efficiently, and maintains classroom behavior.
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, and colleagues in both in‑person and virtual settings.
  • Utilizes technology and software applications for instruction and administration.
  • Participates in professional learning, including virtual teaching endorsement.
  • Prepares lesson plans, maintains accurate records, and submits reports promptly.
  • Follows district and school policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Models professional practices and maintains confidentiality of student records.
  • Assumes responsibilities for safety, file handling, and supervising students in out‑of‑class settings.
Other Duties
  • Performs additional duties as required based on specific content area taught.
  • Plans and coordinates assignments for paraprofessional(s), other supporting staff, and volunteers, providing input to administrative staff.
  • Executes duties requested by the District, the school, or student need.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university required.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of student growth and development.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents related to safety, technology, and educational procedures.
  • Ability to prepare and communicate effectively through written reports, lesson plans, and correspondence.
  • Skill in computing and interpreting data, including rate, ratio, and percent calculations.
  • Proficiency in PC operations and software applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets).
  • Capability to serve as a liaison with various professionals and collaborate with parents and guardians.
  • Adapt instructional strategies and provide accommodations to meet individual student needs.
  • Strong physical capability to manage classroom and student needs, including potential crisis intervention situations.
Certification, License and

Special Requirements
  • Ability to obtain clearance certificate from GaPSC.
Salary/Terms/Benefits
  • 190-day work year.
  • Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule and position supplement(s).
